Default What health insurance did you choose?

457 visa now requires all applicants to provide evidence of health insurance coverage for the entire length of their visa. Is that true that I have to obtain insurance for 4 years before lodging the application? Can I terminate the contract whenever I want to during these 4 years? I assume that I won't need private health insurance after I obtain my PR, correct?
And if anybody could kindly give me some recommendations of insurance companies that provide decent coverage with reasonable price please feel free to reply!!! Btw, I'll be working in NSW, southern regional area.
Thanks in advance!!!

I have medibank thinks its $138 a month. Its fine. btw dont feel hard done by - if you earn over a certain amount, I think 70k, and dont have private health care you get hit by the tax man for pretty much the cost of private insurance. So "in effect" you get to have cover for free in that scenario

I have taken mine out with HCF as I got a discount through work. Did get a quote from Medibank that was heaps more, but didn't really shop around which I should have done.

You could try looking at iselect.com.au - its a comparison website for private health insurance. Be aware that it doesn't cover all private health insurers but it is a good starting point to get an idea of cost.

Thanks so much for your input!!! Are you both happened to be 457 visa holders? And since I don't have any clue how long it will take for them to process my 457 application, is it possible to adjust the insurance policy start date later on? And i think I probably need to have my physical done before I apply for the insurance, right? And do I have to buy a 4-year coverage at a time? Thanks so much again!!!

I found IMAN to be cheapest for 457 requirements.
