Default What happened at my medical?

Went for medical last week in Glasgow, well I ended up in hospital later that night. Why, because when the doctor took blood she caused a clot to form in my arm!!! Yes, I know ridiculous, the doctor at A&E confirmed it was a clot, and took many questions as to where I had blood taken, had various tests to ensure clot would not travel through vein. I am fine now, the bruising was unbeleivable you would have thought a car had run over my arm. I was a bit sceptical to put this information on the forum, as it might worry you unnecessarily, but I am shocked to say the least. Doctor in Glasgow did not appear professional or knowledgable, money making scheme to her I suppose. Anyone else had this or similar problem with doctor in Glasgow? I don't want to report it until I get my visa, as I am sure all of you out there know that we don't want to rock the boat yet. :scared:

Blimey! Bit of a horror story and not that much fun for you. I have blood taken on an almost monthly basis so I've had my fair share of badly done tests and the bruising can be pretty dramatic.

At least all is well now. I would definitely wait until you get the visa then report the doctor to everyone you can think of, including DIMIA who, after all, recommend very few docs for visa purposes so they should be checking out the ones they do check. Write everything down now in case you forget later.

Hiya Mate

Your post does not surprise us in the least....we went there back in December 2003, and that auld witch cost us a bloody fortune.......she cant take blood pressure properly either!!!!!!!!! She also couldnt get blood from me although I gave her the exact point to stick the needle in, and she ended up taking it from the main vein in the back of my hand and it hurt like hell......I too thought hmmm I shouldnt report her until i get my visa etc etc.....but there are too many complaints about this woman, that something should be done......just as a matter of interest, did she have shoes on lol, and did u have to wee in a wee dish in the big next to the kitchen???

That's so funny, ye I had to use the toilet next to kitchen. I am laughing here thinking about you going through it also. My sister went before me and she said the doctor did not have shoes on, she was stinking of horses. Maybe when I get my visa or someone else who has one can start a response and send to Dimia, anonymously of course, can you imagine they said to go for another one, Fat Chance. speak to you soon.

jeepers!!
you should report her to the appropriate authorities....sounds like she needs a bit of updating to say the least!!!
unscrupulous/inept doctors are the ones who bring the rest down...you should not let her get away with it...the least you should do is have a word with the patients representative for your particular primary care trust.

sue :scared:

Granger, me & donna both had big mega bruises aswell, but as donna said she was great with us & the kids, i can see your point about not rocking the boat though.

Hi Heather

As you know we see the doc too. Although I didn't get a clot she couldn't get my arm to stop bleeding. I think she was quite worried about it. She made me sit in the waiting area for 15 mins until it stopped. With regard to the horsey smell, I can't say I noticed that but that was probably due to the smell of B.O (from her not me!!) Like you I felt it was a money making scheme. She was very nice but for the amount of money you pay you would expect a proper medical but I don't want to rock the boat before we get the visa.

Hope you are ok now.

Speak soon
Jayne

Hi
Sorry about your arm I hope it feels better today
We only applied for our visas in March this year so we haven't been for our medicals yet, what do they actually test you for? Also we have an 11 year old son do you know if they will have to check his blood as well? .
