Red face What essential documents should I take with the Banana's !

Hi guys,

Mrs Banana has been posting recently but Mr Banana is sat at work in sunny Essex at the moment thinking about all the things we've got to do between now and mid July:scared: ??

As Jill has been telling you, our current plans are that I'm going out to validate with the family but then coming back until the house is sold. Thanks for all the messages and PM's of support for all of us, its a scary thing but we reckon we can handle it ! Some of you folks have been especially nice...you know who you are so thanks form me for a change !!

Anyway, practical question: What essential documents do you think I need to take with us to sort out the:

Tax file numbers,
Bank accounts (already in the process of setting up the account for this country),
Medicare,
Driving licence,
Purchase of car,
Registration at school for our daughter
Setting up gas. water, phone etc
Setting up credit card
Car insurance

Have I forgotten anything ?
As I will be there for approx. 1 week so I need to cram as much in as possible.
Are there any days when I various departments shut or have half days ?

All help greatly appreciated as always

Many thanks

Warren

Thanks Rach, really appreciate your help and the kind PM's to Jill when she's needed them when I'm away.

Best of luck with your process.

What you need is a list of your lists!

Poor Mr Banana - don't worry - my hubby worried about all sorts of things - left me to sort them out but worried nevertheless!

My hubby is exactly the same. The offer on our house hasn't even been confirmed by the estate agents yet, and more importantly, we haven't got the visa yet either, but he's starting to fret!!!
Bless him!

I read somewhere about doing a will over here to cover any UK assests you have and do one in OZ to cover any OZ assets you'll end up with.

I got this off another site, I'll see if I can find the link for you.

Thanks for this.

I've saved loads of links over the last year but as I am working away I don't have access to them !!

Is there anyway I can save my links at home and put them onto my PC at work ?

I obviously want to maximise my time whilst away as the weekend is short enough (get home Fri in County Durham and drive back to Essex on Sun afternoon !!) so anything I can do in the week at night will save time you see.

Thanks again

I think you can copy them as they're basically just a directory in your computer. Just find the directory on C:/drive- /documents/internet explorer/favourites (at a guess, you might need to have quick look around!) and copy the lot in one go!

C:/windows/favourites
