Nice place - if the lifestyle suits you and I wish you the best of luck - but you've got to compare like with like. Unless you've got something local or work from home nearest jobs will be Inverness, best part of an hour away when the roads are clear.

So what can you get in Tasmania with that money? (Clue - it's not going to be less.......)

Hey PB,
You only have to trawl the net [as you have done already] to see that there are loads of detached homes less than £150K. This country is so small by comparison to Australia yet you'd think it ended the moment you reach Watford gap. Take a look at this "shithole" for the astronomical figure of £145k Rural location backs onto meadows and arable land, overlooked by the picturesque Lincolnshire Wolds yet 10 mins from the industry's along the Humber Estuary.

This is a four bedroomed detached house in a well-regarded block paved cul-de-sac within the village of Stallingborough.
With a well planned internal layout, it briefly comprises hall, living room, dining room, kitchen, cloakroom.
On the first floor there are four bedrooms, the master having an en-suite shower room. There is also a family bathroom.
Benefitting from a gas central heating system and double glazing, this is an ideal family home.
It has a garage and gardens, and must be viewed.

Better than frying but if you dislike the rain and cold avoid Melbourne , Australia even has Snowy Mountains its not all bucket and spades .

Looks nice. Plenty of room to build an outdoor pool, sorry ice rink. From one extreme to the next, sums you up PB
Try indoor pool few of my friends in the UK have and get change out of 30K GBP with a spa included plus a sauna .
What a limited view you have of life , but then then what do I know?
