My mum always send us flowers or a giftbasket from Aus to UK, via companies in the net - I guess when we get to Aus we will do the same for my brother in law's lot & my dad...

good idea claire.

i've decided going to forget christmas when we get there. i'm just so fed up of the commercialism ( yeah i know i've spelt it wrong but its a big word and i'm still suffering from last night!! , must av been the curry!! )

i will do the cards and flowers i think, and a gift for our kids but that'll be it.

Best way to do it.

We used to buy Aussie things and send them back to the UK, even the "lightest" item seemed to cost more than the purchase price of the gift itself to send back, even by sea mail

.We live in Europe and have family in NZ and Canada and we go to some online shops in those Countries and order the stuff there and they wrap it and send it with a card to the family members

When living in the States I used Amazon to send gift wrapped presents to people in the UK or sometimes Amazon gift vouchers. Thorntons the chocolate people have a range of online gifts including flowers as well as chocolates. I also used www.expressions.co.uk who do a fun range of boxed balloons which makes a change to flowers.

Personally when we get out there, I would much rather that our children didn't send us anything but save the money they would have spent and put it towards an airline ticket.

In fact now I think about it, I will not spend any money sending them something they don't need, and put THAT towards their tickets as well.

YES we did that, sent ours money towards their ticket.
When mum and dad come over i will treat them for the anniversaries we have missed, and they are happy with that. Still send cards, but you will find not all friends dont bother, you do find out who your friends are, and my nephews and nieces are grown up now, so not sending them. Denise
