Mrs Robertson is keen that she doesn't spend her first week in Australia endlessly saying 'Goodness me - I wonder why I didn't put one of those in our baggage?' (or some similar turn of phrase!). Anyone got any top tips on what we might forget but really shouldn't?

Call me sad (many do) but I wish I had gone with instinct and bought a new tumble dryer to put on the container. Ours died as we left and we thought, get one out there, obviously they are here but expensive and we had space in the container for one. Going out today to buy one.

Our UK T.V. It was a nice widescreen but made by some German comapny or other so we thought it'll never get re-coded over in Oz so flog it.

Now I wish I'd bought it over just for the kids to play DVD's and P.S on.

I wish I'd taken more drugs.

Seriously though, we left behind a couple of TV's. We had conflicting advice, some folks said they would work, others that they wouldn't. As a previous poster said we could have used these just to play tv's or dvd's and as it turns out one TV we did bring we did not expect to work but when played via an aussie dvd player it works fine.

I also wish I'd brought more alka selzer as it's the perfect hangover cure for me but I cannot find it here.

mate, we didnt leave a damn thing behind thanks to mrs b - so now we have an oz house full of girlie cr*p too.

same as others we got conflicting advice about furniture and tv's etc and in the end crammed everything we could into container as we were paying 5k for it. in the end turned out best as now we dont have to spend lots on buying over here (we could have sold stuff in uk but would get nowhere near good money for it) and its all our and kids familiar stuff.

so bring your tv's for yours/the kids dvd's/videos; bring your washer and dryer (oz mates take the piss out of dryer cos they never seen anything like it); bring your settees and beds as long as you can get them prof wrapped and shipped; bring it all i say...and make life easier especially if like us you dont want to spend lots when you get here.
