I spent a year living here before coming back a couple of weeks ago and am still quite happy here. Any house hunting yet, or will you be staying with the rellies once you come back?

Hello mlbonner,
We will be staying with the rellies for a few weeks in Walu Street, so we'll be round the corner from you!! We'll then probably rent for a while in Bracken Ridge as well - coz you can't get many rental properties with a pool and the rellies have said we can use theirs. As we'll be coming over there to live in the Ozzie Summer - a pool will be fab!!
We went to Redcliffe a few times and that was lovely - the man made pool area there is excellent and our son will love it!!
The road and rail sytem does seem to be prety good from Bracken Ridge which another good reason to be there once we find jobs.
Did you find getting a job ok?

The lagoon at Redcliffe is quite nice now its been done up. There are lots of nice places, I like going into the Clear Mtns on my boyfs bike, (the ones you can see from Bracken Ridge.)
I dont have a job at the moment (only been here 11 days) but I have been lucky enough to turn an interview down (wasnt what I wanted) and had a couple of calls about setting up some interviews. Depends what you want to do I suppose, my friends mum was round here yesterday and she tells me they're desparate for engineers and designers in Brisbane at the moment.

Good luck on your interviews, I hope one of them turn out to be what you want.
I think we intend having a month off when we get there before starting to find work. We've got a little boy - so I'm going to find part time admin work (apparently there's plenty of that) and my hubbie is a Building Inspector/Health and Saftey Offircer - so I'm hoping he will find a job first so I can maybe have a bit longer than a month off hee hee!!
Are the Clear Mnts the Glass House Mnts? coz we've been up there and the view is fantastic!!!

Re: What did you do without Expats??
We went to blackpool to spend a night with my dad and his partner before we fly.
Went to a casino, something i have never done before and i have to say it was fantastic. The food and drinks were cheaper than our own clubhouse on site and then we went and spent a few quid on the tables, really impressed, loved it.
Saturday we spent wandering round blackpool centre, had some lunch from KFC and watched the kids have a donkey ride on the beach.
Then, once home, got ready and went out into lancaster for one of AM's friends birthday.I was the only bloke there and needless to say had a great night listening to all the girlie chat ( though i have no doubt it was being toned down due to my presence )
Got up sunday morning and it back on here. The new look expats

The Clear Mtn aren't the same thing as the G.H Mtns. They're great, but Clear Mtn is just rolling green on both sides and you can drive for miles (km's!) without seeing anything but trees, fields and animals. Defo worth a trip up there (and through to Somerset Damn if you know anyone with a boat) for a change from the coast.
How old's your little boy? My boyfs girl has lived here since she was about a year old so went to both preschool and state school in Bracken Ridge.

Our son is 2 yrs. The nurseries and schools in Bracken Ridge look really nice and according to the rellies - they have a good reputation. Private nurseries are alot cheaper in Oz than in the Uk as well - so that's good.
Did your boyfs girl enjoy the schools etc?

ok this is my first post since the 'new and improved' expats. I did a lot of cleaning as my aunt arrives here tonight from stoke. her yearly visit. cant wait. but I did manage a few times when I'd pass by the pc to "just check and see'. I felt like I was missing something but It's back and here we all are. feel better now.
