What are the average price of Private school fees??
We would like to send both kids to private school, and will be looking into this in more detail when we come out in August for rekkie trip, but we were keen to know what sort of fees are people paying for their kids to go private??
What else do you have to pay for other than the terms fees, and of course the uniform!!

By private school do you mean Catholic? Church of England? Other?
Catholic are much cheaper than the others.
The most expensive school in Oz is Geelong Grammar. www.ggscorio.vic.edu.au
Try a google.com.au for "Combined Associated Schools"
More infor here: http://www.trinity.nsw.edu.au/enrolm...e_schedule.pdf
General idea
Fees:
* boarding (2 or 3 kinds: day boarders- ie go home after supper, weekly, whole term etc) (Day boarders are different to day girls who go home straight after lessons/sport)
* laundry
*"building" or "capital" or whatever else it is called.
*Various school trips (Noumea, Paris, etc)
*Extra music/whatever lessons
*The equipment to do these things.
Then there is the cost of trips to visit little friends over the holidays....friends who may live in the UK, HK, etc
Keep us posted!

Re: What are the average price of Private school fees??
Looking at private for one next year, fees rise yearly but the school thinks $8000 for grade 8, but thats only the start. Uniform will be around $700. Everything is paid for on top of that, books, music lessons, excursions, fees for some subjects such as science and languages, school building levy etc etc etc. I think a bottomless pocket will cover it in reality. However high school in qld is only 5 years, when 2 of them are ready for high school fees will really hit
There are cheaper catholic schools which are gov subsidised like state schools, problem is getting your kids in unless you are a genuine catholic, also you must be genuinely be prepared for them to be taught the faith an its commitments.
Think the most expensive private schools in qld are in brisbane, have heard $14,000 + quoted, however be aware its all very old school and kids names have been down since birth.

Depends on where you are going I suppose, Ormiston College's fees are around $6800/year for senior school & include everything except uniforms, book hire fees (I think this was around $10/book, although I cant find anything on the website, I must have seen it in the prospectus they sent me ) & school camp. You also have once off fees of $1100 for application & building fees. Ormiston is considered probably the best school in the bayside area

As J&R said, in Brisbane many of the schools in the city (Brisbane Boys Grammar, Brisbane Boys College, Churchie etc) are alot more expensive, but you quite often find good schools cheaper in the suburbs.

Re: What are the average price of Private school fees??
My kids have always been to private schools here in Sydney.
In NSW there are a few 'tiers' of private schools.
The cheapest are the Catholic systemic schools, run by the Catholic Education office. Every suburb has one nearby. Their fees are standardised, pretty low and you get big discounts, the more kids you have
Then there are quite a lot of new, low-fee Anglican schools out in the far-flung suburbs. This is the Anglican church's answer to the raft of Catholic schools that exist. You don't get these in the established suburbs as they can't buy land cheap enough to build them there. They are more expensive than the Catholic systemic schools - around the $2000 to $4000 a year mark?
Then you get the older, established private schools. These are the ones that have been around for years and are in more convenient locations. They could be attached to any religion or be completely non-denominational. Quite a lot of these schools are Catholic but they are independently run (and so the fees are higher than the systemic catholic schools). These are the schools that know how to charge. You can pay anything up to $20,000 a year for tuition. Boarding fees are on top of this.
I'm just thankful that my younger son is now in Year 12 and this is the last year we will ever pay school fees. I'm REALLY looking forward to spending the money on something else.

This might give a idea of the sort of extras on top of the 'fee' Would love kids to go to this school, but might be a bit too much of a drive.
