Noosa, Eumundi, Rainbow Beach, Tin Can Bay, Hervey Bay, Woodgate, Bargara, Burnett Heads, Bundaberg, Childers & Maryborough.

$49 per day from Britz (Kingsford Smith Drive, Eagle Farm, Brisbane). Only booked it Friday morning, picked up Friday evening around 4.30pm (that's evening here cos it's getting dark!). Loaded the van up and off we went at 5.30pm.

Drove upto Noosa where we've been before with the intention of parking up in a car park overnight, bottled it and got the UBD out, decided to stay at a caravan park in Eumundi ($16 for unpowered pitch). Went to the Eumundi markets on Saturday morning; have been before, same old overpriced 'tit tat' for sale.

Next headed off for Hervey Bay where we'd pre-booked a pitch at a caravan park at Urangan. Good access to Fraser Island from Hervey Bay but couldn't go as we took our dog with us. Not overly impressed with the area, just 'alright' in our opinion.

Next day drove upto Bundaberg, via Woodgate - lovely beach, totally uncommercial and hasn't been developed AT ALL, lovely place. Had a lovely chicken salad sandwich from the Post Office cum general store which we ate on the beach.

Then drove onto Bargara, more developed, but not overcommercialised. Nice boardwalk on front, a couple of restaurants and coffee houses plus picnic areas. Not much beach to talk of, big rocks with a small clearing of beach area; nice place.

We next went onto Burnett Heads, nothing to see here for us, more for the boaties.

Bundaberg was nice, old style buildings. Driving en-route were lots of sugar cane fields with the cane rail tracks running through and over roads, very different.

We then drove back to the campsite at Hervey Bay via Childers. We liked it here, again very traditional old style buildings.

Monday we headed back home via Tin Can Bay and Rainbow Beach. Again, TCB held nothing for us (for the boaties again) so went onto Rainbow Beach. 4WD's could drive on part of the beach here and so part of the beach was like a road. Breathtaking views after driving through pine forests as far as the eye could see. Nice drive to this beach.

Oh well, work tomorrow....... here's a piccie of Rainbow Beach:

Fab photos. Sounds like a great trip but where were your hats. Tut tut - slip slap slop.

One of the things I am going to miss the most is camping. We have a folding camper (bottom half of a caravan and top half of a tent) and would love to buy a caravan or camper when we over in Australia.
Our main worry is creepy crawlies - At present I am getting used to wasps but still sometimes run around like a complete loon.
Anything scarier than a wasp would send me off to the funny farm.
Is the talk about creepies blown out of all proportion?????
I hope so as this is probably the only reason I would not camp in Australia.
There are creepy crawlies here, but didn't see any whilst we were camping at the weekend. I am not good with the creepy crawlies either and I was fine. You get used to these things after a while and we have soon realised that you see no more here that you do in UK and you learn where their hiding places would be too! You would be fine in a caravan / campervan though I am sure
