WE're on our way!! Advice please x
Hi all,
Been a few weeks since i have posted We have just sold our house....in 3 days Everything is moving so fast now and i don't know where to start there is so much to do.
WE are a family of 4, 2 boys age 3 & 1, OH is a plumber. We are possibly looking at heading for Somerly or Brighton area, but still open to suggestions. Basically, we want to be close to a beach, close to a (good) Kindy & primary, have enough shops to cater for everyday needs (and possibly clothes....or is that just wishful thinking?) a couple of bars/restaurants would be good also. Am i right that if we were to head for Somerley/Clarkson area this would more or less be covered? Because isn't Mindarie right by there with the little port and the Keys? and i think Perth CBD is approx 30 mins drive away.
Also any advice:
What should we stock up on and take with us?
What should we leave behind?
Any good places to take a toddler?
What should we not forget to do?
Any advice would be much appreciated as i've always found this forum a great help.
Look forward to meeting some of you soon!!!!!

Sorry Bex I'm not in that area....
We didn't take much with us since we hadn't bought anything new for ages.
We forgot to take meter readings when we sold the house in the UK. And also shut down one of our UK bank accounts too quickly, so we've just found out that a debt collection agency has been after us for 30 GBP!

You'll find a lot more in Clarkson than in Brighton. There are schools here, both public and private, shops, the beach is only a few minutes up the road.
As for what you should bring, it's coming into summer, so cooler clothes, but bring some long pants & jumpers for evenings. It gets cool here because of the wind. There is ALWAYS wind in Clarkson from the ocean.
Take a look at the top of the forum pages for the top tips sticky. Lots of good suggestions there. And if you're looking for a babysitter for when you get here, I have a 13 1/2 year old daughter looking to earn some spending $$

congratulations on the house sale and good luck with the move
we will be hopefully be heading out easter time next year and not decided on an area to settle yet, didn't go as far as butler as we liked the look of hilarys and connolly areas - don't really want a longer commute
we will be shipping all of our stuff - some posters say take extra towels and bedding etc as all more expensive out there. will you be shipping your furniture or buying new when out there?
vicky

Hi,
We looked at Butler (which is also called Brighton?) We were going to get a rental there but in the end we found it just a little too far for my husbands work. He is a chef and could be working in the city or just south as it turns out. He didnt want to travel too far every day so we decided to stay closer to Joondalup which is about 15 minutes closer and has a big shopping centre. There are loads of nice suburbs around Joondalup, and they all seem to have good kindy/primary schools. Joondalup also has bars and restaurants and banks, medicare office, library, driving licence office, basically everything you need.
Bring with you calpol, liquid piriton (costs $20 here). Extension leads, duvet covers/pillow cases with you in your case.
While waiting for our container we had to buy blow up beds, duvets, covers etc. Also bring a travel iron or even a half decent one.
If I think of any more I will add to the post.
