Its been a year since our visa application was acknowledged (skilled independent, wife's a nurse) and still no visa meds done and sent of in Nov 05, emailed C/O and all he says is visa under assessment.
Is anyone else having the same bother with there visa.

Yes we have contacted our c/o several times all he ever says is it still under assessment, our application was straight forward always lived in the UK, meds ok, police checks ok,wife on occupation on demand list, but of first c/o was never a work, nearly every time we emailed her we got a automated reply saying she was out of the office for a couple of weeks.

we too are waiting for the final yes or no. We appplied in September last year with a agent. Starting to get really frustrated and quite dispondant now. We have agreed that we will give it a year from when we applied and if no joy get on with our lives. It's just that for 2 years in total we feel we have been on a rollacoaster ride. Need to get some normality back into our lives and move on.
the reason I say yes or no is that it starts to get to you the waiting so you think the negative. buy the way I am a nurse and applied through the STNI route which chould have been quicker. Also others that applied after me have had their visa's. It makes you wonder.
good luck to you hope you hear soon.

Don't ASPC have some service standards to uphold? Can't this be escalated to some manager?

So it's now nearly July, so if your visa is granted say at the end of this month then you only have 4 months to tie your lives up here before you have to go. Unless you can afford to spend whatever it costs on a validation trip.

would definately definately be asking for a managers name by now. that is far too long, even for non modl, which we are. we have got our visa grant today, sent end august/ack 6.9.05, and we thought ours was long.
i do know of somebody that has contacted the manager on 2 occassions, once to chase a co (she got one the next day!), and once to chase her visa (she also got that the next day!).
let us know how you go on. good luck to the pair of you.

We are going on the same visa. I don't know what they are playing at because our visa application was lodged 10th March. We frontloded our medicals, had our police checks done, but waited for them to be requested.
We was told we would have to wait 4-6 months for a C.O.
Had telephone call off agent on May22nd stating we had C.O. who was requesting police checks. Sent them off 26th May. Told today 16th June visa granted.

Oh I didn't know that, i thought it was a year from visa issue date , which is probably one of the reasons the agent doesn't recommend front loading

Whilst frustrating as it is waiting for a visa grant you should probably put things into perspective. The waiting times have dramatically decreased in the last 12 months following a new system they introduced. My application took 18 months from start to finish and there are many more who took longer.
I realise its not a great comfort and yes it is frustrating but realistically every knows that the application process can take a year.
As to front loading it comes and goes as a "buzz word" around here. I fail to see why anyone does it. It might shave about 4-6 weeks off your visa time but thats about it. Compare that to ony having a couple of month to validate potentially. It doesnt fast track anything and whilst useful to a few peoples circumstances its not that clever if you think about it.
None of us have the right to a PR visa and there are many more people that will never qualify for one at all than do. You'll get there eventually people.
