Default Wembly Downs, Perth, Whats it like??

This place looks in a good location, near the city, near the beach, but houses to rent are dirt cheap! What is it really like? Im very suspicious when it comes to 'bargains' in house prices!! No-one has ever mentioned it on here before.

Help anyone????

Hi Teresa

We moved to Perth from UK in April. We are renting in City Beach, next to Wembley Downs.

Wembley Downs seems like a nice area. I is close to the beach and town, there are local shops, and lots of greenery.

We had a look at houses to rent there, and there may have been a few that aren't great, but most seem fine.

Cheers,

Mike

Thanks for that Mike.

What agent are you renting with? Im trying to get something organised prior to arriving in Perth, via email, but this just seems impossible!!! No-one is getting back to me!!
What did you do?

Hi Mike,
We usually stay on Scarborough Beach when we visit, I like City Beach, very nice but have to look south of Perth possibly Mandurah area because of hubbys job Kwinana:scared:. We will be coming out for christmas & new year; we will be spending new year at the Observation. This trip is for a holiday but also to get things moving on the employee exchange front

Kind Regards

rents in perth are generally good and its a nice central area.looked for places around there to buy and our only advice was to avoid parts of glendalough, esp apartments around Herdsman's Parade.

great, central place to start, near water and subiaco.

good luck!

wembley downs is really boring - or nice if you like.
a lot of green, golf, older people.
rentals are cheaper on main roads.

there is a slight excess of rentals as interest rates are at the lowest now and investors from elsewhere are buying up.

BTW, I seem to remember that estate agents didn't seem to want to reply to my emails either!

I sometimes drive through Wembley Downs on my way home, and it looks pretty clean and respectable - I guess the housing stock is just older, and here in Oz they don't tend to look after older houses as well as we might back in the UK - they have a tendancy to buldoze them!

We've been in Perth for over 2 years now and live in Ocean Reef to the north, which seems pretty popular for Brits.
