the job offer we have arrived for is now not there..... feel sick and don't know what to do.. OH is just quite.. in a holiday rental for the next 3 weeks but looking at the job market at the mo.. it doesn't look promising....

He's a mechancical fitter and we are in Melbourne.....

Stay positive, hope he gets something soon, keep looking! it`l all be ok, even if he has to take anything to begin with, try not to stress too much. These things happen its life!

Son got told he will be put off in June:curse: , very difficult time for him so know a bit of how it feels.

I am amazed people tell you this just after you arrive, you often read that, havent they heard of email or phones before you arrive.

I'm pretty sure it will work out, just spend a little time each day looking at posts on Seek and MyCareer, and at the same time find out the names of the recruitment companies that advertise jobs in that field and register with them. Back up each job application with a phone call, as I've found that for every 15 jobs I have recently applied for (and am ideally suited for) that I get only one direct response. Persistence is what its all about.

Oh, and don't forget that nobody will look down on you for doing something different in the meantime.

Oh gosh, that is really awful, so sorry!

You have to try to stay positive. get the cv out to as many agencies as poss & go in person if at all possible. keep chasing them too as my OH has found that they are terrible at getting back to you.
