Default Weed Killer

Can anybody suggest a good Strong weed killer.

I have used 'round up' to the instruction but nothing has happened. I am trying to kill general weeds including bramble, ivy and onion weed. I also need to paste something onto the stumps of Laurel and Sycamore to stop the regrowth.

Zero ...with 490g / litre Glyphosphate content is one we use....does the job and can get it in bunnings. It is to be diluted with water so you can vary the strength according to type of weeds.

A bit harsh and dangerous to handle but hydrochloric acid takes no prisoners. 5% is OK. Get it from any pool shop.

Round up needs about a week before you see results

will it kill plants that are growing near by?? How long do you have to wait before you can replant?

Round up takes at least 5 days before anything happens, depends on weather an all sorts of factors. Results sort of happen 'all of a sudden'. If they are not dead 10 days after spraying I would start to worry.

Sodium Chlorate if you can get it? replanting can take place 6 months after, but it will kill most things so beware. Glyphosate based products are good, the plants take them on board because they are similar or pretend to be - the same as the plants hormones, so the plant sucks them in only to be killed from the inside out, which is why you may not be seeing anything happening!! also less is more as far as glyphosate is concerned don't think that by putting more on it will work better/ quicker.
Brushwood killer is a good one too for brambles but again not sure if you can get over there. For stumps drill holes in top and sprinkle "Deep root" into holes.

Enjoy your mission Kim

Weed and Feed by Yates, you just plug your hose into the adaptor and hey presto, it will get rid of Bindi etc. I did it last week and the lawn is looking better already.
