Anyone know of any websites that can give you average walking distance times. Obviously google does individual approximations for a set route, but I'm after something that will give you a radius from a given point. eg 10 minutes walk in all directions from Prahran Train station. Surprised none of the 3 property websites don't have a tool like this (by which I mean Realestate.com, Domain and Realestateview.) So if I'm missed any less known property websites that have more gimmicks let me know, albeit in Melbourne.

It's called an isochrone, but it tends to be not really provided as such ( http://www.walkscore.com is the closest )

Thanks RedDragon, but that's no different to what google does. I want a radius to be drawn around for instance a station, showing what 10 minutes walk would be in all possible directions.

As I say, you are looking for something that plots isochrones, but it's not a usual thing.

Closest to Oz cities is www.mapnificent.net for PT journey times - but it doesn't do Melbourne (because they don't make the data available). You can overload the Google Maps API, but only in GIS systems (and they probably don't like it).

Just means you have to roughly guess how far someone can walk in 10 minutes

Average walking speed is 3 mph - or half mile in 10 mins - or 0.8km. Knock a bit off for not being able to walk in a straight line and a radius of 700m should cover a 10 min walk in one direction
