Question Website for family back in uk

Hi,

I'm thinking about making a website to post some photos etc on for friends and family back home, rather than emailing photos left right and centre.

I presume loads of people have done this sort of thing so is anyone proud of their work or does anyone know a good one as I'm looking for inspiration.

It will also take my mind off the current exchange rate. :scared:

Cheers

Take a look at www.blogger.com, a little easier than creating your own website

Hi

I am in the process of making a website for exactly the same reasons.

At the moment i am trying to find out how to put a message board on it as i think that will be the best way to communicate rather than using e-mails.

Also i need to find away of allowing my family to upload there pics onto it from England.

Any ideas ??

A while ago, Worzel recommended MSN Spaces. Here is the link to his web site: http://spaces.msn.com/members/3downunder

I use picasa2 (http://picasa.google.com/index.html) and found a feature that loads photos to www.photobox.co.uk . Friends and family have to sign up to view the pictures. What is different is that I am able to order prints for friends and family. That has been very useful for helping mum feel a bit closer and show off her grandson.

Picasa has no Australian affiliate yet. You get 200mb of space and 50mb extra for each order on photobox.

Fame at last!!!! That reminds me, I need to update.

I have to say, though, that msn spaces is an absolute doddle to use. I totally recommend it. My only concern was storage space for all the photos as I was getting near my limit but they seem to have trebled it.

I use internetphotosdirect.co.uk who will host your pictures for you.

"You can keep your digital photos private or share them with friends and family around the world. We offer you 200MB of FREE album storage, plus another 50MB each time you order! "

They print excellent quality pictures and give next day delivery. The slide show is a really nice feature, where you can add comments to your pictures. I think it would be easier to manage than setting up a website.

I'll PM a link to my pics, just to let you see what I am talking about.
