Question Weather in QLD

Can anyone shed any light on how humid it gets in Queensland?
We have visited twice for a month at a time but only in August/September.
The weather at that time of year is very nice (British summer)
People we have spoken to in Qld refer to the humid months of Jan/Feb.
Hence the question

Variable but gets up to 95% here in Cairns.
Yep Jan / Feb probably the worst months.

9 months of lovely weather....3 months of "difficult" weather.
A good trade in my book.
It's one of the most popular destinations for other Australians to holiday.......now that says something.

Basing this on Brisbane - Someone like Mrs D, that has lived here most of her life, can probably answer better than me, but to give you a rough idea - Aug/Sept are the most like an English summer, but they are vastly different from a Qld one. August is often horrendously dry, with humidity down to single figures.
Jan/Feb is very very different - humidity in the 90s much of the time, coupled with temps in the high 30s. Its not pleasant, it leaves you tired and drained. Unlike English storms, the Qld summer storms often leave the air just as humid afterwards, they don't leave it fresher.
The further north you go from Brissie, the more humid it is formore of the year. Cairns for instance is sub-tropical. Bix or SteandLeigh could give you first hand experiences further north.
If you don't like serious heat and high humidity you may need to settle elsewhere.

You'd be looking into NSW, don't know what the weather is like humidity wise around Sydney.
As Bix says, its three months of difficult weather - I don't do humidity but am learning to put up with it. depends on your other reasons for wanting Qld I guess - could you put up with it if the pull of other factors was strong enough?

We're going to inland Queensland to Toowoomba about 90 minutes west of Brisbane. We're told that it doesn't get as humid as Brissie as it's high up on a plateau - will let you know when we get there in February

Edited - just realised you must be on the tablelands in FNQ - those figures wont apply to Brisbane where most people move to.

Don't know about the humidity but I do know it was piggin cold at night when I was there in August. Had a jumper wrapped round my feet whilst in a very comfortable cosy bed in a very nice house. Feet were still piggin cold though But then according to my hubby I am a reptile so who knows.

Sorry, nearly forgot, to the OP, Polly's assssment is pretty correct, only thing I would say is that temps in the high 30s arent a daily occurence, low to mid 30s are closer to the average temps during the day in Summer (probably 80% of days in summer would fall within this range), we certainly do get high 30s (& even into the 40s the year before last :scared: ), but really only for 2-3 weeks of the season (broken up over the 3 months).

If, as you said, you don't "do" humid, then I would certainly consider looking elsewhere.

(PS. Cairns is tropical & Brisbane is subtropical, but now Im just nitpicking )

Where are the stats from? qld is huge its 2000 odd kls from bris to up north and nearly as far west, you get loads of different climates within the state.,

Generally the SE corner is the coolest bit thats why everyone lives there.

Get a good quality air conditioning system then the 3 months when its hot and humid won't seem so bad, perhaps a swimming pool as well if possible.
If you don't like the Queensland weather you can always move down south where theres a cooler climate.
