My applications 'sans agent' took 7 months and 13 days. No front loading either - so September could well be feasible...

dont worry about not being acknowledged, why not ask your agent if you can go ahead & do your med's & police checks? at least then you are moving forward, if you are doing it own your own go ahead & do them & post them off?

If you applied Nov 03 Skilled Ind 136 - it may be worth getting your police certs now and book those medicals. You can always redo the police certs for GBP10 - and push back the medicals date if needs be....
It all depends on whether you need to strecth the 12 month validation period to its limit.
Just a thought...

I waited until meds requested April - wished I hadn't really - police certs took 4/5 weeks to come through - had to get an extension to the deadline (not needed in the end though).

Re: We have been told by our agent
Based on present experiences we are generally seeing quick progress on general skilled visa applications lodged in late 2003, but this is probably a function of it being the time of year when case officers are under pressure to deliver visa grants to hit end of year targets => processing timelines tend to ease back post 30th June.
By the same token the increase in the Skilled Independent pass mark is likely to have an impact on processing times - positively for you.
On balance, if yours is a general skilled visa application I'd be surprised if you have visa grant by August or September, but not astonished.
Good luck!
