Wolves2stayup! will become famous soon enough
Talking We have arrived!!!Yippeeee

Well finally we have arrived in Perth, we arrived on the 3rd April at about 2:30pm, absolutely worn out as we had spent 10 days in Florida and then onto Vegas for a couple of nights. We flew with United Airlines and I wouldn't recommend them for numerous reasons.
We were picked up from the airport by John who runs emi-great.com.au and he brought us to the house that we have rented from them for 5 weeks.
We arrived on the Sunday and on Monday, we applied for ozzie driving licences as the advice we received was that applying for a licence is a good form of ID for when you need anything, and also you don't have to sit a test anymore you just fill in a form. We received them today, so a very quick and efficient service.
On Tuesday the kids were asking to go to school so we enrolled them in Rockingham Lakes primary school and they started on Wednesday so they have been there two days now and seem very happy, they have made a few friends.
Is there anyone living in the Port Kennedy area, maybe we could meet?
so all in all, everything is good at the mo. We are now looking to buy a car or 2......any good advice out there? We'd like a people mover and a small run around.
Will keep you informed....if anyone has any questions about anything just ask.

Sam

Really pleased you have made it to the other side!!!!
Sounds like you're really busy and enjoying it. We should hopefully be on the Gold Coast in August. Keep us informed of any info you think relevant!!
Enjoy!!!!

Congratulations on your move!

My flight is on June 16th.

I have a question about the driving license. On the website from the department for planning and infrastructure it states you are required to sit a test.

Have there been any recent changes or excemptions? Any infos on this topic?

Kind regards,

Phil

Phil,
In Perth they changed the rules in January this Year, so you dont have to sit a test. Just fill in a form and your done. Each state has different rules, so check the state you are going to.

There is a lot of advice on here about buying used/new cars but our experience this week has been ( looking for nearly new circa 2 - 3 yrs old 4x4 ) that you can get a new car for a few $$ more... despite what the list price is you get a big dealer discount - we got 8K$ off list price on a new car (60k$ down to 52k$) whereas the 2 yrs old used models were selling for 48K$ - ! We phoned the dealership at 1630 on a saturday afternoon ( they're closed sundays) said "Ive got this much money and that's it and I want a new tumpy-tum model , can you do me a deal" we were stunned when they said yes , then even knocked a further 700$ off when we pushed a bit in the dealers before signing.... Thi smight work even better at end of month - they seem to get quota'd on monthly sales (at least at the big car dealerships). - this was a toyota.

Thanks for the information.

Does this new rule only apply to UK nationals or only certain countries?

Kind regards,

Philip
