Hi,
Quite a Random question, but I belive the water in Brisbane is hard, the water up here in Cairns is very soft.

So places in Australia do add a lot of Chlorine to their water at certain times of the year. Queensland I belive is just coming onbaord with addding flouride to their water.

Regards

Dom

I've been wondering what Brisbane did with our recycled sewage, since they decided we wouldn't be drinking it after all.....

I agree Sharon, Aberdeen water was a treat - and chilled straight out of the tap.

We don't drink the tap water here at all SOR Perth as it smells and tastes of chemicals. I buy bottled water - even to make tea with.

How are you settling Sharon?

Water tastes different wherever you are. Lived in Manchester and water was great, moved to Bristol and it was awful. Now in the Illawarra and its usually OK but can sometimes have a bit of a chemical smell to it. We filter and chill it if its for drinking but if its for tea/coffee/cooking we use it direct from the tap and its fine.

I wouldn't mind the chlorine taste - ours has a musty, rotting vegetation taste which makes it undrinkable unless filtered. Or mixed 50-50 with scotch....

The water here smells and tastes very 'earthy' especially after rain.

At my son's house (nearer to the CBD) it is almost undrinkable unless filtered.

Cairns water is very pleasant to drink. Went to Gold Coast last year water was foul....tasted like it had been sitting in the pipe for months

Water in Brisbane has had fluoride added to it since December; the taste and smell has definitely changed for the worse (though my dentist bills may go down). The water now tastes and smells like outdoor water, like old pool water.

I've got a good idea - we could just drink wine instead.

It really will taste like shite soon.

The untreated effluent will cancel out the effect of the recently introduced fluoride...

Unlikely. My dentist said the other day that they would continue to do the fluoride painting for years yet. The only people they will start to stop (iykwim) painting teeth are the very young as they will get the automatic build up from water. I am on tank water which was why I was checking if they were going to stop offering the service. Not a lot of fluoride in rain
