Watching UK TV

Hi

I've just moved over to Sydney from the UK and tried to catch up on some TV using iplayer however I found that was blocked.

Does anyone know any way around this? I know its sad but I am missing my fix of Eastenders!

You'll need to 'trick' the BBC iPlayer in to thinking you're located in the UK.

To do this, you need to connect through a UK based computer (called a proxy server) which sits in the middle of the BBC iPlayer and your computer in Australia. Then, as far as the BBC is concerned, you're located in the UK.

I'm not aware of any free UK based proxy servers (that are safe to use) I'm afraid, so you'll be needing to fork out a little cash.

Hutch wrote an article on his blog/website that will explain the process in more detail...

Or you sign up to one of the torrent sites, like thebox.bz and download (if your download allowance is big enough)

Strongvpn.com is your solution, cheap to use it and we have had no streaming problems in the 6 months we have been using it

For the box you need to upload as much as you download or they will kick you off. However for those who need their doctor who fix in an instant, its normally available 30 mins after the end of the show.

Got a feeling that Soaps are free under the sharing ratio rules.

Steve. pm me your email for an invite as I think I've got one going

I use this one http://www.adtelly.tv/ and pay about £5 a month, had no problems what so ever with it, only thing I'd say is you need a decent broadband speed to be able to watch the programmes.
