QLD announced them at the start of the year. I believe they will be going live just before Xmas. They have already built one on the Bruce between Bribie Island exit and Cooroy, it's just not active yet.
Although from that map they are outside Sydney metro which is the sticks to me. I don't stray that far from the water. |

I remember doing 120mph (in a BMW ha!) approaching the Channel ports through Belgium at night about 10 years ago. To be honest, I'm not sure why - I could easily expect to get caught, and it was stupid. I'm not trying to say it's the fastest mankind has ever driven - but it's fast enough to be a worry. |

Totally agree on the speeding cameras and bad driving, however the UK is way way worse for speeding detection now with the average speed cameras they use there. If one bastard device was ever invented it is that, and they've no doubt fixed the inability of it to work if you've changed lanes by now. Australia being behind the times in most things is a benefit that in that we don't have these yet.
Particularly weird place to put it as the Bruce between Caloundra and Caboolture is just about the safest part of that highway, in my opinion. |

Actually this point to point (average speed) camera system has been in Australian use since around 2007, but only for commercial vehicles.
