Washing Powder
 

Hi guys, stupid qusestion but can anyone recommend a decent washing powder. Not sure what we're using here as I can't get in the laundry at the moment but whatever it is is useless.
I need a washing powder that will actually get things like mud, chocolate, ink etc out of my 4 yr olds clothes cos at the moment I'm soaking everything in nappisan overnight before I wash them. It's a nightmare.
I miss the good old trusty Fairy non bio we had back in England.

Or could it be that it's a top loader? We brought our front loader with us but until we get a place of our own that's taken up residence in the bro in laws spare room.

Coldpower. But like all Aussie washing powders it needs to be combined with Napisan to work propertly.

BTW my Mrs has discovered Arial for sale in Ocean Reef it's twice the price of the local stuff but gets the whites white!

Exactly what I was going to recommend! I think too that top loaders just dont do the same job as the front loaders. I love it when we go back to UK on holiday and mum washes all our clothes - they look so clean and smell yummy :)

I use the OMO Aloe Vera and it works fine for me in my top loader.

If I have to wash Hubbies work clothes or have anything with any difficult stains I throw in a bit of Nappisan Oxywash and dont actually soak it and no probs so far.

The only things I soak overnight are my whites from time to time just to give them that boost.

I wash everything in cold water.

me ozzie misses reckons top loaders are rubbish and after returning to oz following a year in uk she insisted on buying a front loader.

As for washing powder she says dynamo is good but if you have stains just spray with pre-wash stain remover. Most of my oil, gravy, curry stains come out with that :D

havent a clue what santorum means sorry, only thing I could think of that you mean would be protein based stains like blood ?

like I assumed, protein based ;) hardly think youd find them on a 4yr olds clothes as was the question in the thread

My experience of top loaders is; I couldnt wait to get my front loader out of the container when it arrived,theres just NO comparison! They dont seem to clean or rinse anywhere near as good.I felt quite nostalgic when I got here as my mum had a toploader in the 70's but I soon worked out why she changed to a frontloader when it went bang. Swap the machines over (then dont let hubby put on a hot wash with the cold wash stuff-bubbles everywhere!)

Looks like I'm going out to buy some coldpower then. Will have to hide it somewhere so I don't offend the MIL. She thinks her washing powder is OK, and it probably is.... for her stuff. She doesn't normally have a 4 yr olds washing to contend with.

As for my front loading washing machine, I can't wait to get a house and have her plumbed in.

I use Omo liquid for front loaders and its been fine. If there are any stains that I think may need help I use White King which you spray on and then put into wash as normal.

I am interestd to know why you never see any of the UK big brand wasging detergents here. Do they contain chemicals that are prohibited here or something? Seems very odd considering theres a whole host of other global companies products here like shampoos, soaps etc. so how come the washing powders arent sold?
