Washer & Dryer

Could anybody recommend which one of the stores has the largest inventory of washers & dryers and also where is it cheaper to buy them?

Also, what brands of washers & dryers would you recommend? I am looking at the front loaders.

Thanks.

By what percentage/amounts do the sales people usually drop the price?
If, for example, I am buying a washer & dryer for $2000, how much discount should I expect to get?

You would need to!! Was in the good guys on sunday, washer on blink, couldnt belive the prices in there, a cheapo brand basic washer 800/900 bucks, decent ones over a grand easy. Then another 120 for the warranty extension.

Buy a descent brand and give the warrenty extention a miss. Extended warrenties are a rip off. Our Bosch front loader washing washing machine came with a manufacturers 2 year warrenty included in the price. Cost us $700.00 1 1/2 years ago.

I recommend you join www.choice.com.au.

It doesn't cost much considering the great advice. Their washing machine report, which independently and expertly tests and compares over 50 washing machines, was last updated on 1 Feb and splits the report up into best buys by size and includes the price and all sorts of great info.

Largest inventory is usually with Harvey Norman, Clive Peeters, The Good Guys....then usually the superstore versions of Retravision, Betta Electrical, Bing Lee, Clive Anthonys...then dept stores like Myers, David Jones.

Most people report good deals with The Good Guys. Union Shoppers can usually find you a low price if you are a member of a union.

We recently bought the number 1 recommended 7kg front loader for around $800.

Is there a large choice of washers & dryers in these stores? How does it compare to Canada or UK, if somebody knows? Will I see just 5-6 washers on the store's floor or more?

Not sure where you are but in Adelaide Harvey Norman have a warehouse store which is so much cheaper and you can get a really good deal.

i dont recomm fischer & paykal front loaders for the very reason if something goes wrong after warrenty, then you have to get them to come out. Called 15 local chaps and they all refused to touch it... Nearly a $200 call out fee from F&P without undertaking any repairs!
