Warm Flat Beer
Honestly - I really don't mind drinking a schooner of ice cold Toohey's New on a hot summer's day but please could anyone tell me if there's anywhere in the Sydney area that serves a decent pint of traditional British Ale ?
A nice pint of Brains SA would be perfect. |

A nice pint of Brains SA would be perfect. I think one was called the Admiral Rodney or Nelson?? Last time I was there the beer was not as good as previous times. There is also a pub selling German/Czech real beers. In my experience they won't be warm or flat but they are the nearest you are going to get. Failing that Coopers is as close as you will get. G |

Same street as the bridge climb place. They sell decent brews from all over Oz and in pint glasses! They do an Australian tour, where you work your way round the ma trying different beers from all over! I was sat there at the weekend enjoying a couple pints of Squires Amber in the sunshine. |

Or if the wife is shopping in the CBD, sneak off to the http://www.redoak.com.au/ on Clarence Street.

Re: Warm Flat Beer
I'd say the Nelson is pretty good (and they only sell pints and half's, no schooners in sight) or the James Squire on King Street Wharf. But beer is always cold so you just have to line them up and wait for them to warm up
We've also found the Coopers sparkling to be pretty good but have taken to brewing our own. Batch number 1 was a bit dodgy but since then they have been getting better and better (I'm enjoying one as I type). Home brew is quite common over here and you can easily get kits then you buy the recipe book from a home brew shop and it goes through easy steps to make copies of many beers. Once we've moved into our own place we're going to set up a beer fridge with kegs and a tap on the outside so we don't run out of home brew plus its easier than bottling 60 little beer bottles with each brew. |
