The Warehouse
Soon I will have to outfit a unit prior to buying a house.
There is a place in Melbourne where you can get all your 'emergency' crockery, cutlery, kettle, iron and board, toaster for cheap called the "The Warehouse". Excellent whilst waiting for the rest of your gear to arrive, and you can still spend that bit more and still get some good stuff, not the most povo stuff.

The Warehouse is a NZ company - NZ's answer to Walmart.
In many smaller towns it's practically the only major store. Discount reputation - some shoddy products, some good products.
Looks like it's expanded into Australia, but not to Western Aussie yet:
