Default Wardrobes take or not?????

Silly question I know but .... we had PSS round last week for a quote and the bloke said it really isnt worth taking wardrobes as a majority of homes have them fitted in all the bedrooms!!!

So is it worth taking them or not???

Cheers

We have the same dilemma Kris. We have a lovely bedroom set, 2 wardrobes, chest of drawers and an overthebed unit. Lots of storage!

We thought we may just take the lot and if nothing else the wardrobes can have extra shelves fitted and be used in the garage for storage! Surely you can fill them with already packed boxes so they don't take up much space in the container?

Sold part of my bedroom stuff was left with 1 wardrobe shipped it over....wish I'd hadn't bothered. I'd say nearly every house has fitted wardrobes and loads of other storage places.

Yeh ours aint expensive or anything so if homes have them all built in seems pretty pointless taking them!!I was only taking them because i didnt want to waste money buying new when we get there!!

We've spent loads on buying new furniture and stuff...it all adds up! Wish we hadn't been so rash with selling/throwing some of our stuff out from the UK!! Oh hindsight is a good thing!!

not a daft question kris, i'm glad you asked it too. mine is a set from next and the robe cost me 400, mind you anybody thinking of buying furniture from next....dont, cos its crap!!!

because its a 3 door, hubby dosent want to take it cos he'll have to take it down and it took about 6 hours to put it up!

think i might see if our buyers when we get one might be interested now!

Just a comment about rentals having fitted wardrobes - most NEW properties have built-in wardrobes, alot of older properties don't. So if you are planning on living close to the city (where there are many more older properties) you may need them, whereas if you intend living on a new estate a bit further out, then its not likely you will need them.

Work out how much it will cost for the room the wardrobe takes up. We had to use the built in storage in our rental to store stuff we'd have put in our garage or attic if we'd had one so we use a couple of the wardrobes for clothes. I like free standing furniture anyway. If you've booked packers they'll try and remove furniture whole (no disassembling or reassembling - sound like the robot from short circuit, don't I) and will fill it with your stuff so you won't lose much space.

A bit of advise from experience. Dont listen to the sales man when he tells you to fill the wardrobes with clothes and light goods to save on space in the container. We were advised this by John Masons salesman and we did as advised - when the goods were at Liverpool waiting to be loaded on the boat Masons decided to unpack the wardrobes - then pack all the clothes and board games in to extra boxes.. This then put the cost of the consignment up and as we were greener than grass we paid it. Just to add insult to injury they then boxed one of their dirty old blankets that they use to walk on to avoid dirtying your carpet, and yes we paid for the privilege too.

Just my advise - but also all the houses we have looked at on the Gold Coast have had built-ins.

Most houses have built in Robes.
A freind of mine brought theirs, but they dont look right, and will keep them because of the expense of bringing them.
Some more friends of ours are going back to UK, it cost them 5000 pound to bring their stuff out, and its costing them $14000 to take it back, and believe me looking at it its not worth half that, what a waste of money, i think anyway.
