I don't mind warmth, humidity at reasonable level, 60-70% and up to about 27 is OK, its the racing off to work, wearing proper work gear, suits and stuff, that gets me - and I really loathe both very high humidity and very low - drops below 35% and like Moneypenny said earlier I can feel the moisture being sucked out of me - very odd and it has to be experienced to understand it.

I do sometimes wonder how I'll adapt to the increased temperature & humidity. I'm not worried about MrGS as he grew up in PNG, so he's quite used to it. I didn't find it too bad when we were over there in 2008, but that was only for a month - in the middle of Australia's winter! I'd acclimatised a bit by the end of it.

There's a kind of joke here in Canada about -40 not being cold on the prairies because it's "a dry cold". It's the same as the heat. +40 in Adelaide or Perth is like sitting in the middle of the Gobi desert. Hot, dry and uncomfortable

That's what surprised me when we arrived. It was the first time I'd flown anywhere, and when we stepped out of the airport, it was like a blast of heat to the face! I couldn't handle the cold of Canada though! The cold & I don't mix! :D

If this is your only reason then you are making an ill-informed judgement. Australia can (and will) be very hot for a few weeks in the summer. Here in SA usually it's something like 15 to 20 days across the whole summer when the temperature rises above 35, which is the only time the "oven" thing starts to happen. Here was 5 degrees last night and it's nine degrees now.

The only 'oven' heat they get in Tassie is in ovens. I'm interested as to why high temperatures affect Epilepsy though, never heard that before. Do you have a link I can check out?

That's a shame, but I hope it isn't based on the recent heatwave in the UK. I couldn't do sun or high temperatures and really worried about it before we migrated... but I had no real issues adjusting to the Queensland climate (and now we're in NSW I'm flipping freezing all the time).

However, when we went back to the UK last September for a holiday, right in the middle of the 'Indian Summer', I thought I was dying! Nowhere had aircon, even in most of the cheaparse hotels we stayed in there was no aircon, just heating! So uncivilised :D
