Default wages on a working holiday visa

Hello,

Me and my partner are coming to oZ on a working holiday visa. My partner is a carpenter and will be looking to do chippie work. How much can he expect the wages? Will it be less than other chippies because he is on a visa or does that not matter?

Many thanks,

Jen

Don't know the answer to your question Jen but try following the links at the bottom of this DIAC page and see if that uncovers anything.

dont know what chippies earn, but with the housing boom still on in wa should be plenty of work..saw an ad in west australian newspaper last week for a roof carpenter but didnt say wage. woulld expect pay rate to be the same but you get slammed with 30% tax rate, though thought someone said you could claim it back when you leave -best check the australian tax office website for more info. my sons girlfriend is on WHV too. good luck
