Default W.A. electricians licence

Hope somebody can help with this. With regards to the skill assessment for an A grade licence in W.A. i believe i've seen a post saying that for the award of an electrical fitters licence, there is an element of metalwork/fabrication. If so, what does it entail? To be honest, i'd rather get the electrical mechanics licence but beggars can't be choosers as they say(To be honest, any A grade licence would be good to get me started). With my employment as a maintenance electrician i probably come halfway between both streams.
Do the applicants have the option of which test(mechanic/fitter) they take? or do the examiners take an overall view of the assessment before issuing the licence- providing a pass is obtained of course. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks for the reply, I did read the Baldbutts post, but i'm pretty sure he didn't mention any metalwork/fabrication. I'm not too sure exactly where i saw the reference, but hopefully somebody can give me a better idea??
