vrrrrrrrrrooooommmmm (grand prix)
Yesterday me and my hearty travelling companion, Badge, went to the Melbourne grand prix. (HUP was doing his dive course and was unable to escort me!)
Anyway, it was all going beautifully, we were walking round soaking up the atmosphere enjoying the food and beverages. That was until these really really fast cars came round the track and ripped my ear drums to shreds. I would have had more fun at a death metal gig with my head shoved up against the main amp!! After about half an hour of 1200 decibels of torcherous proportions i decided that was i offered a noose, razor blades or a length of exaust i would have taken them all at once, anything to get me out of there!!
Needless to say you couldn't here any of the commentry, so once they all began to lap each other you didn't have a clue what the eff was going on (apart from the crout winning)
The best part of the day was meeting up with polly and the bloke for the marshalls party. Free drink and lovely food and a very good live band to hoe down to, the perfect end to the day.

Hevs, I cried at last year's Melbourne GP cos of the noise - I got really upset trying to understand what it would like to be a possum or swan living in Albert Park and to have your home turned into a race track, and to have to endure that deafening noise without knowing when it was going to end...if ever. I kept thinking of all the baby possums who would be scared to death and wondered if any of them would have died of fright.
I am a real softie with animals.... and my husband thought I'd gone loopy.

Hevs, how could you go to the GP and moan about it!!!!!!
I was all set to go to the british last year untill i found out i was pregnant and figured that the noise wouldnt be good for the unborn, but i watched on tv with my patio doors open so i could still hear the real thing, come to think on it, it was still quite loud and we were 4 miles away.
Hope your ears have recovered and glas you had a good end to the day.

Plus it was sooooo boring, as soon as the Ferraris left the grid my each-way bet on Coulthard was money down the drain!
Never again. Can there be a sport on the planet where the excitement gap between doing it and watching it is so big?

Glad you enjoyed at least some of it Hevs.......
I'm not allowed to say rude things about that nasty German who won . Got back to Brissie tonight with the temp in the 30s and its more humid than Singapore. Think I'll move to Melbourne!

It was noisey - we ciould here the cars while waiting for our train at Brighton Beach station - 15 kms away !!!!
You should have gone to the Moumba (spelling??) festival on the Yarra, plenty of fast boats, wake boarding and water skiing competitions, no noise (except from the kids)
