I thought ALL Oz citizens had to vote but stand (sit?) to be corrected.

He can only vote only IF he has enrolled in the area you live in. I think it unlikely that he will be able to this time, unless he made a point to enrol in time, or if he was already registered to vote whilst overseas.

Enrolment is compulsory for Commonwealth purposes for Australian citizens who are 18 years of age or over and who have lived at their current address for at least one month

Actually dont want the Taxi driver basher to get in. So thats why vote often.
