VoiP, or Wireless Internet in aussie
Is anyone on here using either of these two relativiely new protocols.
I'm seriously looking at using VoiP here, With someone like Spantalk, Just wondered if anyone was using anything like engin, or spantalk or a skype box to phone oseas, and mobiles here ? What are the Drawbacks if any ?
Plus has anyone tried this newly rolled out IIburst wireless internet access, where you plug a modem into the closest power point, and you have wireless access from that vicinity. 59 bucks per month 1024/512 x only 1 gig unfortunatly. I think that 1 gig limitation will rise fairly quickly, However thats really bringing the price down. Only available in innercity Sydney and Melbourne at present.

We have an adapter that plugs into our broadband router then a normal phone plugs into that, set it up with a few different providers and at the moment calls from us (in UK) to Australian landlines are costing me just under 1 pence a minute, I have also found out about a 1300 number that our friends in Australia can call, they then enter my voip number and my phone rings here.
As for as quality goes 99% of the time it sounds better than the normal BT phone.
We also have a USB phone that i can call Australian landlines on through the pc, which at the moment costs zilch to use but dont know how long this will be for.
I have read online that a 1 hour voip call will use 70mb of bandwidth so you would get quite a few hours of calls per month even with your 1GB allowance.
