Default Visas??

Hi,

Can someone clarify something for me...

I am a family of 6. I work as an IT Support Specialist and would like to take the family to Oz. What is my chances and can you help explain further..?

Do we all have to apply for visas to live there, or can I apply and they can come based on my acceptance (would my wife have to apply for a visa to work there)???

I just don't understand the whole visa thing.

Please help!!!

Hi

Look on SOL list if you're profession is on there, you're not over 45 and have no major health issues (you or direct family members) then there's a very good chance you can get a visa. Only need main applicant to have a visa, kids can go as long as not independent i.e. over 18 have own job, house etc.

Do a search and do an on line points assessment and that'll give you a very good idea, or speak to an agent (can recommend a few if you feel the need)

Good luck

Start here http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/index.htm. It's the department of immigration website and you will find all sorts of good information on what you need to do in order to live in Australia.
Accountants are on the SOL, so you should be ok with that part. You may also wish to speak to a MARA registered migration agent. Their job is to help people get visas to live and work in Australia, so they are also a wealth of good information.
Good luck and keep posting.

All family members migrating do need a visa, however secondary applicants do not need to meet skill requirements.

So, I can apply as a skilled migrante and the rest of the family have to apply for visa's as a dependant of me?

Do they need to have a visa before we come over or should I apply, then if I get one we can apply for theirs when we get there? Or will that cause problems with education and if my wife wants to work, even if it's part-time and in 6 months after we get there?

Sorry, just not really understanding the necessaties and the "nice to have's".

Cheers

You fill in the form for the visa, and it will ask you to name your dependents on that form. So visas for all of you are applied for at the same time. Thats your partner and children. You all get issued individual visas, though you are the main applicant.
In your case, you cannot come to Australia without a visa of some sort for each member of your family.
Maybe ring one of the agents that posts on the immigration forum here for a consultation about the ins and outs of the process, as you do sound very confused.

Hi Ben,

If you are applying for PR then you need to include your family members in your visa application. Once visa approved, all your family members will become PR. In other words you wife will also become PR. She can work without any problem.

Hope this will help....

That seems to clarify it for me. The application of my visa will give the rest of my family the opportunaty to live and work in Australia.

One application with 6 visa's on sucessful application.

Now where to go on how to apply successfully for the visa!! )
