If you get a permanent residence visa to migrate to Australia, is it valid for a limited period, or can you leave Australia for a few years and then return?

Hi there,

You must validate your visa first. You have one year to validate from the date of either your police or medical (which ever was carried out first). You may only get a couple of months to validate depending on if you front loaded your medicals and police check. After validating you have up to five years to come and go. The five year period starts from the date you are granted a visa.

Hope this helps

Regards

Ginny
