Which Visa Should We Apply For
I am a 48 year old NNEB qualified nursery nurse with 25 years experience currently working on supply with time off in between to have 3 children age 9, 7 and 7.
My husband is 49 and ownes a successful glass and double glazing business. We are wanting to sell up and make a new life in the land of Oz. Just wandering if anyone could give us some advice on which type of visa would be the best for us. Any advice would be much appreciated. Sue. x |

Unless it's diferent for nurses the upper age limit for Skilled Migration is 45, unless I'm wrong........... Cheers Inny:confused: |

Sue. x I am sorry to say that at your ages the options for permanent migration are very limited if they exist at all. You generally have to be under 45.It can be done in very exceptional circumstances but unlikely. A business visa may be an option or some form of sponsored temporary visa. I suggest you consult an agent before you do anything else. Good luck G |

Sue. x I BELIEVE OVER 45s WILL FIND IT DIFFICULT TO MIGRATE TO AUS. UNLESS YOU HAVE A SUCCESSFUL BUSINESS BACKGROUND,REASONABLE CAPITAL ETC. YOU COULD TRY THE BACK DOOR TO AUS ie. NEW ZEALAND. THE UPPER AGE IS 55 ,LIVE THERE FOR 3 YEARS APPLY FOR CITIZENSHIP THEN OVER TO AUS. BEST OF LUCK. |

Sue. x We are in a similar situation to you and I was/am NNEB and teacher. My husband is an electronics engineer- We had an interview with an agent last Saturday and he found 4 options for us but all are "last resort" in some people's eyes in that they are all more difficult to get than if you are under 45. 1. the senior exec visa -(my husband is in top 3 exec catorgory) 2. Regional sponsored- as NNEB /teachers are wanted in regional areas the age is crossed off the requirements. you need to find a job with a contract for 2 yrs. 3 Retirement visa- one of you can apply after you are 55.- but you are never PR so can not sponsor your children. 4.become a student in OZ and you can also work 20 hours a week. But remember overseas student fees are expensive so this option is a last resort. You also have the business owners visa option as your husband has run his own company for 3 yrs. You would need to look into the the investment and business plan involved. Go to a good reputable registered agent. Its not easy but you will find people on this forum are very supportive and helpful. Good luck, keep researching and your dreams might come true! :) Helen |
Hello Helen,
Was just wandering which agent you used? We have enquired with a few but they all seem to want loads of money up front. Yes, I think a business owner visa will be our best bet. Does how much equity you've got count as I think we will be selling the house and business so should end up with a substantial amount. Thanks. Sue |
