Visa Question??
I am applying for a skilled PR Visa. I am in IT.
I want to go to Sydney on a months hoilday in October but I need to come back home for a few months to save a bit more money before I take up my permanent residency there. If I have been granted my visa before October does that mean that I have to "activate" it when I get there on my holiday or can I het a separate holiday visa for this purpose. |

Re: Visa Question??
Hi @boy,
many thanks for your reply! So just to clarify........if I get my visa before October, can I go to Sydney for my holidays, come back home and go back to Oz permanently anytime afterwards provided I spend 2 years between now and 2007 there? I was of the impression that I had to move there permanently within 12 months of receiving the visa.....is that wrong? |

Not quite. You need to live in Australia for 2 years at least in the first 5, if you do you qualify for a Resident Return Visa for another 5 years. But if you stayed outside Australia for this second 5 years, your PR would be at risk. The only way to get an unrestricted right to come and go from Australias you wish is to get Australian citizenship. > >I was of the impression that I had to move there permanently within 12 months of >receiving the visa.....is that wrong? > It is wrong. You have more time than that - *provided* you validate your visa within the first 12 months by entering Australia. Jeremy |
