Hi all , were just beginning our long journey towards a skills visa and have had a rough quote of £2500 all in for a visa ( agent fee + visa fee + medical fee ) . Can any one give me an idea of what payment needs to be paid when ? I'm hoping we don't need to stump up all the fees straight away.

Jim, I don't know about your agent but the others (for skilled independant or STNI at least) are something like this:
At the start: Skills assessment fee
When you apply for the visa itself: Visa fee
A month or so before visa grant: Meds and police checks
Hope that helps.
Not forgetting fees for getting docs certified, postage, etc.
