Visa Denial question

I applied in September, but my case is very iffy, and I have a great probability of beng denied a visa as my points don't add up (based on the changes that DIMA introduced). My question is how soon would I know their decision? Is it possible it could drag out a whole year before I'm told that they are denying me a visa?

There's the possibility that you won't get any news from DIMIA for many months, before finding out that you didn't get the points.

In theory, if you have met the basic requirements but not the passmark (say you're only left with 110 points after the MODL changes), you could be placed in the "pool" for up to 2 years, so in theory, you could be waiting for 2 years before they tell you that you've been bumped out of the pool and rejected due to insufficient points (supposing the passmark never drops again).

I think if they put someone's application into the pool, they would
tell them. Applications are held for 2 years in the pool after
assessment (not after application) and if no reduction in the pass
mark has happened, and if there's no regional nomination, the
application is refused at the end of the 2 years.
