Visa Came Today, We're On Our Way!!
Hi, All
Visa received today, albeit a 457 (for now), and have booked flights for 14th March from Gatwick. ETA Sydney 16th March!!!
House sale progressing nicely (touch wood) although we have not exchanged yet, due to do that on Wednesday, completion following Thursday. Do feel like we may be counting chickens etc....
Shippers coming on Tuesday and Wednesday next week. Have used PSS and so far really pleased with their service, have had to cancel 3 times due to buyers piddling about!! IT WILL HAPPEN THIS TIME
Have been told that all our worldly goods will be with us again within 6 - 8 weeks, is this viable, please enlighten me. Also, am having to go through house deciding what to take and what to leave. Kids bikes, toys, heavy clothing ie coats, boots etc.
Any last minute advice received most gratefully x

Hi Wheezy,
Congratulations! We shipped London-Melbourne and our stuff arrived in about 6 weeks. Storage this end was much more expensive than in the UK, (around $1000 charge just to unpack it from the container, and put it into storage for a week) Be sure that you will have somewhere to unpack your boxes by the time it is due to arrive, or delay shipment a couple of weeks.
If you have a container bring everything you can get in there, make sure you wash kids bikes thoroughly though as they are usually inspected by quarantine. Don't know how old your kids are but mine (5 & 3 at the time) were quite worried about their toys arriving safely and glad to see everything again. I had thought about a selective cull, but never got round to it and in retrospect I am glad. As for boots/heavy coats etc, I guess you might not need them in Sydney but if you venture to the Blue Mountains or decide to go to the snowfields you might be glad of them.
Regards Kirsty

Kids are 4 and 6 so yes quite attached to their belongings and haven't the heart to do a major cull. We have sole use of a 20ft container so hopefully we shall get everything important to both us and the kids on. Good point about the Blue Mountains, this is definitely on our to do list. Along with Hunter Valley of course.

Congratulations Wheezy,
Bet you don't know whether you are coming or going with everything happening so fast.
We had a 20ft container and ended up getting more than anticipated into it. We had all the essentials packed, and then had a pile to do in descending order of importance, but got the lot in, so there were no difficult decisions about what should stay and what should go.
Good luck to you all, I hope the next couple of weeks go smoothly for you.
