Visa Bond Refund

Visa Bond Refund
Guys,
I've done a bit of a search on this and cannot find a definitive answer. The bond that was lodged as part of our visa is stuffed away in a bank somewhere and presumably when we complete the required 2 years, this gets returned, my question is, how does this work, do you receive a cheque made out to the sponsor, is there a money transfer? The problem is that our sponsor will more than likely be overseas when it's time for the refund....anyone had any experience of this??

Re: Visa Bond Refund
As far as I am aware and what has happened to my sister. The bond is refunded back to the sponsor ( I think it is by bank transfer). The sponsor then gives it back to you.
During the two year period the sponsor receives letters from Centre link for various reasons. I think these are just reiterating the fact the sponsor still has a responsibility.
I can only speak from what has happened to my sister who is the sponsor for my other sister.
I hope this helps. I have another year and a bit to go lol.
Good luck

Also - I think the money is refunded via a cheque - this is so Commonwealth can charge yet another bank fee for the privilidge of you getting your money back. Your assurer will then give you back the money, less the bank fees.

When our two year period was up, we all got individual letters from Centrelink telling us that the period was up. Our Assurer also got a letter with form and instructions on how to apply for the bond back.... hope this helps.
