Default Visa Application

My husband me and my daughter sent our application off to Adelaide in February 2002. My husband is a motor mechanic and we had a successful TRA assessment.

2 weeks ago we had a letter from Adelaide requesting more information:-
They wanted my husband's original skills assessment - they said the copy we sent was insufficient for their purposes and they needed the original. Sent this same day but was under the impression only certified copies were to be sent. Any thoughts on this?

Also - has anyone been asked for a request for information like this - likely timescales on receiving more news?

Any info gratefully received.

Thanks

Hi

I'm not 100% sure but I think that you need to send your original skills assessment letter to DIMA with your application.

If you think about it, what other use would an Australian Skills assessment for migration purposes be useful for???

You should take a certified copy though, just incase it's lost.

I think the reset of your documents can be certified copies, unless requested otherwise. I know I sent my original copy to DIMA and certified copies of everything else.

Hi Tracey,

I also applied around the same time. Received a similar letter requesting
for my Original assessment and original birth certificate. However, via
email they promised to send back the originals I needed to keep.

So I think it's safe to assume you are ok.

Tracey,

The original skills assessment report needs to be submitted. That's about the only original document that DIMIA wants. This is confirmed by the migration agents that participate in this newsgroup as well as a DIMIA officer who confirmed this is so via email when I asked them earlier on.

Get your original assessment photocopied and certified as a true copy for your own records, and send DIMIA the original copy.

Cheers,
Peter

Hi,

I was asked for copy of original skills assessment in July (applied Feb).
They also asked for my son's birth certificate & photos (born 15th July). We
were asked to go for our medicals & get our police checks on 12th Sept.
