Virgin to Sydney

Hi There,

Has anyone gone down to Sydney on Virgin? We are going via Hong Kong.

Booked it on their website, it was the cheapest flight I could find at the time with the shortest layover of just an hour which suits me fine with a 1 and 2 year old to keep entertainted.

Hear a lot about other airlines and nothing much about them on this route.

Would of liked to have gone Singapore Airlines but for the dates I needed they were £1000 more with a 10 hour lay over.

A longhaul aircraft change of an hour is cutting it a bit fine even if sector one is on time!

It is the same aircraft, expect they are just refueling, cleaning and doing the catering.

Not if it's a 'through' flight. On Qantas we were only in Singapore for about 1 1/2 hours - just enough time to get off, have a quick walk round, and queue up to get back on again!

Hubby has flown with Virgin and said they were good. :)

Have to agree, I'd hate a one hour - even two is cutting it fine sometimes. You'd have to go straight back through the gate to reboard. Specially somewhere huge like Hong Kong where it can taake an hour to go between gates.

The one hour stop off will be to drop passengers off and refuel. They may keep them on the plane. Its not uncommon.

Hi,

We did the Heathrow to Sydney route with Virgin about 18 months ago on one of their first flights for that route and we found them fantastic. Our son was 2 at the time and I was 6 months pregnant and we found their service and staff to be excellent. We had an hour and a half stopover and we all got off the aircraft to allow them to clean, refuel and re-cater and then we all got back on.

Hope that helps

Emma

Virgin @ HKG is fine as the plane departs from the same gate it arrives at, infact it is the same plane that has been re-catered, cleaned and security checked. Just go through the Transit area and upstairs and you are there, staff are there to advise you as you get off the plane. Usually turned round, ready to board in around in 60mins.

As a gentleman, I'd recommend buying her a drink first, virgin or not.
