We havn't had anything like this in Melbourne.... Yet, hopefully it stays that way.

Trouble started earlier in the week when two local lifesavers were attacked by a gang of 'middle eastern appearance'. Apparantly trouble has been brewing for a while.

Just watched it on TV, really violent footage. What started as aussies trying to reclaim australian beaches from race gangs, quickly turned to mass drunkeness as immigrants were told to go home etc, leave australia etc.
Drunken aussies charging around waving aussie flags, race gangs responding, police being beaten and pelted and batons and capsicum spray in retaliation and innocent people just cause they were immigrants attacked. Now moved from beaches to railway stations and surf club.
Bit different from our peaceful day in the surf.

Its hardly surprising considering the way the media have been hyping it up all week. Radio 2GB have talked about the impending battle continously all week!! Some of the comments and remarks made by supposed journalists on there in the last few days would get them arrested in UK for inciting racial hatred. All they have done is wind up a tense situation even more.

What started it? I've not seen anything on the news in the UK. Today is just dominated by the fuel factory fire.

For quite some time Lebanese/middle eastern youths have been intimidating people visiting this area and the beach. Last week two lifeguards were beaten up by a gang of these youths. In retaliation, white youths have apparently been text messaging each other trying to organise a "wog" bashing event at the beach to "take back" their area. As i said, if this wasnt bad enough, the media have made sure they well and truly advertised it and it was beginning to get out of control. So, anyone living in Sydney will not be at all surprised by these events

it all kicked off in Maroubra too. its went mental on all the beaches in this area.
