Default 'Village' Cricket?

My 17 year old son loves playing cricket but is worried that everyone in Adelaide (this looks to be our most likely destination) will play to a high standard and he will be outclassed

Are there the equivalent of the UK's village cricket clubs - where the playing standard is reasonable but the social aspect is just as important?

The social part is more important, but when you cross over the white line to play its as serious as the Ashes at the moment.

Admittedly I'm in Perth but play cricket for a club who has 4 senior teams. Our top side are extremely experienced players, and goes down to lower sides who some had never played out door cricket before, but there is heaps of encouragement and genuine interest in making them feel part of the team and club.

I'm sure clubs in Adelaide will be no different.

You are coming to the land of AUSPORTRALIA

Aussies are mad on Sport, at all levels, and positively encourage everyone, no matter what their ability to take up a sport.

Cricket is a sore point at the mo, with the aussies

There are plenty of local cricket teams, and your son would be more than welcomed to join in.

A typical advert in local rag for a cricket match of under 16s say goes like this.

BAR OPENS AT 2pm
DRINKS from $3
BAR CLOSES AT 10pm
PLEASE DONT DRINK AND DRIVE
oh and cricket match is about 3 ish lol dependant on the weather

Get the point
