Videos - again!
I'm aware of the difference in transmission standards between Oz and the UK, and the VCR compatability.
But: will tapes recorded in the UK play on a TV/VCR bought in Oz, or will the sound be missing?

There are 2 video standards - NTSC (American) and PAL (pretty much rest of the world) so you won't have any problems as UK and AU are bot PAL.
Most moden video machines will playback both standards though.

Hi Rog YES while we were waiting to get a chap oz video to tune in our uk tv's we spent the evenings watching all the tapes of Only Fools and Horses - this can be an epic production and now I never want to see another chandelier!!!!!
It is quite handy to have the old uk vcr's to use on the 'spare' tv for watching tapes while the oz vcr's are taping from the other tv's

Hello Rog. The answer is that yes your tapes will work.
The reason for this is that vcr's split an incoming signal into seperate audio and video signals before recording it onto a tape. This means that the recording that exists ont he tape is encoded in PAL but not in any particular flavour of PAL because the audio signals has been split out and recorded seperately.
