Question Victoria STNI Application

Hi,

We have recently sent the STNI application off to Victoria State Government via email with the necessary documents attached. However, we have not received an email acknowledgement back from the Victorian authorities to say they have received our application and supporting documentation. Does anyone know whether they do send an acknowledgement back or do we just wait to hear from them with a response to our application?

Many thanks

We are also going STNI Victoria, we didnt get anything until we had approval sent to us by email. Our application was lodged on 21st January 05 and we had confirmation of approval on 10 February 05.

I was told the panel only sit once every few months, and we werent expecting to hear as quickly as we did, werent expecting some news until April, so we were lucky I guess.

Where abouts in Victoria are you hoping to settle?

Hope this helps.

Thanks for this Jo. I have another question and I wonder whether you can help me with it .. I have just been looking on the LiveinVictoria website and we sent our STNI application to the email address [email protected] - which is the one they say on the website to send it to... but i just happened to look on another of their web pages which contradicts itself by saying send STNI applications to email add [email protected]. Can you shed any light on this??

We would prefer to settle in Melbourne itself, but are prepared to go where my husband can initially find work as his occupation is quite specialised within his industry. Where are you planning to settle?

Sorry dont know which you would send it to, but I know the email address has changed, because our agent sent our application to the old email address and was then contacted and told to send it to the new one! Which is Which, I couldnt tell you.

We're hoping to settle in Torquay, about half an hour from Geelong. Hubby a carpenter, so fingers crossed, lots of work for him out there!! Hope so, Ive already got my lifestyle all planned out

We are planning to go out in September to check out the areas and decide which suits us best.

If you dont mind me asking what is your timescale for getting out there - the sooner the better? If an application is passed with DIMIA do you know how long you have before you have to go over?

We ideally would love to be out their by November 05 at the latest, but each week we're waiting for our medical/pc requests, is another week wasted. So we've decided to go ahead and get medicals/pc done to save time.

Only reason we want to be out there so soon, is because our eldest starts secondary school in September and dont want to fork out for brand new uniform costing a fortune, that he will only wear for a couple of months. But the clock it ticking How realistic this timescale is remains to be seen, but we're just keeping everything crossed.

The worst bit about this whole process is the waiting, and god Ive recently had a rant on here about it. Sometimes you get so stressed waiting for an email, you could burst! And were still waiting for it!!

Timescales to get out there, you have 12 months from the date of either your police checks or medicals, whichever is the sooner. Some people frontload their visa applications, which in hindsight, we may have done had we thought about it, but it is a risk.

Hope this helps.

It does help thanks. I think we are just feeling very anxious about the whole thing at the moment as we have mixed feelings about moving our little boy away from his grandparents/family etc etc - but on the other hand we want the best that life can offer for him and frankly I dont think this country cannot offer that and Australia can.

Arrghh all so much to consider!! Plus we are planning our second baby for beginning of next year so we realistically wont be able to get out there until end of '06, which should fit in nicely (i hope!)

I know what you mean, but my kids dont have their grandparents on the doorstep, they are both four hours away, one by car and the other by plane (Tenerife). It would have been alot harded decision if they lived close by and saw the kids all the time.

I felt anxious everytime we sent something off and got another stage nearer, I suppose its reality setting in and you're not just talking about going, you're actually doing something about going. But for all of us, I know its the right decision.

Good luck with second baby planning

when it comes to Victoria STNI you can pick up the phone and ring them. They are realy nice and will be as helpful as they can. Honestly. I'm sure all the Victoria state-sponsored people will echo this. If you email a question you will get an answer by the next day.

For example, my wife went to see Suzy in overseas qualifications unit last week. Suzy has just transferred from SMU and surprised my wife by already knowing about her and asking how I was.

Last night I decided to ring the Victorian SMU and they were indeed very helpful, they confirmed that I had sent the email to the correct address and then this morning I woke up to find an email from them confirming that they had received our application and that they have passed it on to the relevant 'industry panel' - ! They have given us a timescale of 8-12 weeks for an answer.

Just for information purposes does anyone know the office opening hours for Victoria SMU? I sat up until midnight waiting to ring them but i got the feeling they had been open a little before the time I called..

Hello, I'm from Peru and I apply to STNI to Victoria. I sent my CV after than my online application to this email: [email protected] this email is valid, I made the question and the Skilled Migration Office's sent me an email with this email.

Good Luck.

I'm waiting my answer too.
