I will check with her school but was wondering whether you know if this has been done. Thanks

Also, instead of doing 4 units of a fifth subject, she is planning to do the UEP (Maths).
Very occassionally a student may do a third 3/4 subject in year 11 but this is unusual I think unless they are particularly mature or gifted. It is a huge workload on top of the 1/2's they will also be doing and some teachers believe these subjects can then suffer later. If she does two 3/4's in year 11 she should still be able to do the UEP in year 12. The languages and Physics are some of the hardest VCE subjects and most schools will not allow students to do them early as they will miss the year 10 course in the subject which prepares them for VCE. I certainly wouldn't recommend trying to do a Physics VCE 3/4 in year 10. Apart from anything else she would find herself in a class with the year 12's and this in itself could be a little daunting for a year 10.

She will be completing French and Maths (Methods CAS) in Year 11. Will see how she finds the units 1 & 2 in year 10 and then take it from there. She is already doing the accelerated maths program and "accelerated" French. She shouldn't find it difficult completing units 3&4 in these subjects in Y11. She is also not the type to be daunted by older children

Remember, the ENTER is always scored on 6 subjects.

This is worth a read http://www.vtac.edu.au/pdf/publications/choice.pdf It's being given out to year 10.

I think Jade has a problem! Whoever let her do all those maths subjects should be fired!

Wow, what school?

At Melbourne High they do one subject 3/4 in year 11. They promote a work-life balance and still 75% got over 90 with 18% >99.

This is very handy! In addition to the chosen subjects do they do any compulsory stuff, like PSCHEE; PE etc as they do in the UK? Can they drop Maths entirely if only the English is compulsory in the ATAR?

Thanks for that She has decided to do English, French, Maths Methods, Maths Specialist, Physics and UEP - Maths as her six subjects.

In her first term year 9 report, her competence in every subject was assessed as being at a level as that of the end of Year 10.

Yes, they can drop Maths entirely. Need to check whether the uni course requires it even if it isn't a mathematical degree.

http://www.quppa.net/studyscores/ here's where you can get VCE results by subject/school/pupil.

So, you can check how many kids entered the subject; for your school what subjects scored the best (check the teacher hasn't moved)...

Also, http://www.vcaa.vic.edu.au/vce/stati...009schools.pdf

Have fun.

The harder subjects have their marks scaled upwards, easier downwards.

here's the scaling for 2009 http://www.vtac.edu.au/pdf/scaling_report.pdf

The last page shows you how ENTER relates to scaled scores.

Schools can afford to do stuff like that when they're so picky about who they let in..

Sorry mine are all too big now even I find it all very confusing, especially as the names, starting ages etc are different for each state. I'm glad mine are at the other end of the education trail!!
Grade Prep is considered the first year of school here, even if its equivalent in other countries is considered preschool still.

You often hear people here (including the media) referring to 'preppies at their first day of school'.
