Default Validation trip

Hi can anybody help.I am coming over to Australia to work on a temporary 457 long stay visa.When I arrive I will be applying for PR under the Employer Nomination Scheme.I keep reading on this site about visa validation trips,are theese necessary for all types of visas.Could somebody explain the valadation process.

If you get your permanent visa whilst you are out of the country (Oz) you need to enter the country within a certain time to validate it. Some people are not ready to properly move, so come on a validation trip. If you are here already on a 457, then go on to a permanent visa you will not need to validate it.
