Default Validation baggage allowance

Hi there, we would just like to ask if anybody knows how you go on with you additional baggage allowance if you have to do a reccie. We are just flapping at the moment as we are waiting for the house sale to complete and it does not look as though it will go through before we have to validate our visas We understand that you are allowed 40kg baggage allowance when emigrating, but we do not want to do this on validation only when we actually make the move. Can you validate your visa and then when you eventually emigrate used the additional baggage allowance on your second trip.
Thanks in anticipation of any replies.

No, when you go through passport contol at brissy airport the scan your passport and the visa page. So they know that you have been before! Thats what we wanted to do, same probs with house sale so we had to do a reccie trip, Hope this helps, Pete

Guys, can I suggest flying via Los Angeles. There's a few airlines fly this route, the flights are slightly longer but you get at least 46kg baggage allowance each automatically!

We are in the same boat and going to do a reccie in april I was under the impression that if you did a reccie you flights would be return so when you are going to migrate you would get your 40kgs then as your ticket would be one way then. Not to sure whether it goes on the visa being unstamped which it would'nt be if you'd validated it. Maybe someone else will know more.

The extra allowance is ONLY valid when you FIRST use your visa. So, if you do a reccie, you will NOT get the extra allowance when emigrating for good...Bummer eh?
